Candied Bacon

Candied Bacon

Candied bacon. The sweet counterpart to everyone’s favorite savory cut of pork. If bacon can improve every meal (and it can), then candied bacon can improve every dessert (and it does). This one’s for you bacon enthusiasts who want to partake of bacon’s unearthly goodness more often than just three meals a day. Enjoy. And try to ignore that pain in your left arm.

  • 12 slices thick-cut bacon
  • Finely ground black pepper
  • Brown sugar
  • Baking sheets
  • Tin foil

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Line baking sheets with tin foil. Lightly coat the foil with brown sugar.
  3. Evenly arrange bacon in a single layer on the foil.
  4. Lightly dust bacon with pepper, and sprinkle a thin coating of brown sugar on each piece.
  5. Place baking sheets in center of oven and bake for 15 min.
  6. Remove and flip the bacon, and cook for an additional 10 to 15 min, or until crispy.

Alternative: substitute maple syrup for brown sugar for maple candied bacon.
